Dominant Performance for Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving

The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team hosted Williams School, Kingswood Oxford, and Marianapolis School for a quad meet at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on Wednesday, January 29, with both teams winning across the board.

For the Boys’ Team, seniors Anthony Ferneini and Eric Huang, junior Tyler Tagliarini, and sophomore Paxon Campbell placed first in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:50.00. Anthony also placed first in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 57.39 and Tyler placed first in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:05.62 and the 100 Freestyle with a time of 49.62. Freshman Massimiliano Angarita placed second with a time of 5:44.31 and junior Heath Schwartz placed third in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:58.61.

For the Girls’ Team, sophomore Alessandra Sticca, freshmen Angelina Nicotra and Josephine Nicotra, and eighth-grader Alina Zhu placed first in the 400-Yard Free Relay with a time of 4:21.63. Angelina placed first in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:40.38 followed by junior Julia Scalmani in second with a time of 6:42.35.  Josephine placed first in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 27.48 and placed third in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:18.84.

For the 1-meter diving, eighth-grader Ava Rehm placed first with a score of 139.50 and sixth-grader Willow Parke followed in second with a score of 133.60. Seventh-grader Russell Clune placed second with a score of 164.60 and seventh-grader Leo Connors placed third with a score of 135.60.

“Both the Boys’ and Girls’ teams showed great depth, with strong individual swims and powerful relay performances propelling them to success,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “With strong performances across the board, both teams are building great momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.”

The Boys’ Team won 92-60 against The Williams School, 106 – 9 against Marianapolis School, and 87-74 against Kingswood Oxford. The Girls’ Team won 99-40 against the Williams School, 92-42 against Marianapolis School, and 87-72 against Kingswood Oxford.

The Boys’ Team has one more in-season meet before heading into postseason competition, while the Girls’ Team has two remaining meets before their championship season begins. The next meet is scheduled for Wednesday, February 5, at 4 p.m. against Hopkins School.
