Major Matthew Peterson 2003 Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel

Class of 2003 alumnus Matthew Peterson was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the Army in June. LTC Peterson has been serving in the Army for the past 17 years after commissioning as a Second Lieutenant from the Drexel University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program.

He began his service career as an Ordnance Officer and became a Logistics Officer during his Captain years. He had the honor of serving in such units as the 82nd Airborne Division and 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. Over the course of his service, LTC Peterson had assignments and the opportunities to live in places such as North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Arizona, and Korea.

He currently resides in Austin, Texas, with the Army Software Factory (ASWF). As a Software Product Manager, he and his team work to develop and deliver applications for soldiers.

Additionally, LTC Peterson is an integral part of the Hamden Hall community as he is part of the annual Hugs for Soldiers community service project. Each year, all Lower School students in class with art teacher Sue Bennett 1973 write and decorate Valentines’ Day cards that are sent to those serving our country. A special package is sent to LTC Peterson wherever he is stationed, and he shares them with his fellow members.

“It's been a wonderful tradition, and I read every single one of them because I know the students put in a lot of hard work and effort,” said LTC Peterson.
