Maj. Peterson has deployed three times—once to Iraq and twice to Afghanistan. He has been stationed in Fort Bragg, North Carolina (82nd Airborne Division); Fort Campbell, Kentucky (101st Airborne Division, Air Assault); Phoenix, Ariz. (rooming with former 2003 Hamden Hall classmate, Katie Panza); and he is currently serving in South Korea.
Maj. Peterson will spend two years in South Korea, his country of birth, having been adopted at age 5 months by his proud parents, Cookie and Michael Peterson. Matthew “Young Joon” will continue his military career with the Army. He is also in the process of developing and marketing an app called Shudi. Hamden Hall congratulates Matthew on his outstanding accomplishments!
Matthew had this to say about his alma mater: "Hamden Hall had a huge impact on my life. I learned many valuable lessons while at Hamden Hall, especially thru my experience with the sports program. In Middle School I had the incredible opportunity to play baseball, basketball, and football and continued baseball, football, and cross country in high school. During those seasons, I developed a sense of leadership, discipline, and team work - all of which I apply to my everyday work. Hamden Hall helped me build the foundation that I needed to continue to strive in college and my career as an officer in the United States Army."
