Beyond the Bell: Students Awarded at U.S. Academic Decathlon
The Academic Decathlon Team placed second overall at the CT State Competition of the U.S. Academic Decathlon. The team is composed of senior Anish Dhawan; sophomores Theodora Aslan, Helena Chaine, Daniella Li, and Alexander Yi; and freshman Tobias Liu.
The theme of the competition was the American Revolution and the students were challenged through different events to demonstrate their knowledge on the subject matter such as subject tests, an essay, a speech, an interview, and a fast-paced super quiz.
In the Honors League, Alexander Yi was awarded gold in speech and silver in science; Helena Chaine was awarded gold in math and silver in literature; and Theodora Aslan was awarded silver in econ and literature. In the Scholastic League, Tobias Liu was award gold in econ and science and Anish Dhawan was awarded gold in math, literature, and science.
The team is coached by Upper School science teacher Dr. Patrick Fitzgerald and Director of Inclusion, Equity & Diversity, Dr. Lisa Hill.
