Varsity Wrestling Compete in the New England Championship
Two qualifying members of the Boys’ Varsity Wrestling Team competed at the New England Prep Wrestling Championship hosted at Phillips Exeter Academy on Friday, February 14, and Saturday, February 15.
Sophomores Carmine Cariati and Gavin Giugno advanced following their victories at the Western New England Prep School Wrestling Association (WNEPSWA) Tournament.
Gavin won his first two matches on Friday to secure a spot in the quarterfinals. After a loss to the overall number 1 seeded wrestler, he fought in the consolation bracket and secured a medal with a second period fall from his opponent.
Coach Kiernan Griffin 2000 noted that both Carmine and Gavin competed with honor, determination, and focus.
