Post Season Awaits Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving

The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team traveled to Hopkins School for a meet on Wednesday, February 5, with the Boys’ Team closing out the season with a 6-2 record and the Girls’ Team with one meet to go.

For the Boys’ Team, seniors Anthony Ferneini and Eric Huang, junior Tyler Tagliarini, and freshman Gabrial Andrews placed first in the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:32.05. Tyler placed first in the 100 Yard-Freestyle with a time of 49.76 and the 200 Yard IM with a time of 2:03.63. Gabrial placed first in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 5:12.31 and second in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:58.77.

For the Girls’ Team, sophomore Alessandra Sticca, freshmen Angelina Nicotra and Josephine Nicotra, and eighth-grader Alina Zhu placed first in the 200-Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:53.38 followed by junior Julia Scalmani, freshmen Julia Hammer and Katie Popkhadze, and seventh-grader Arianna Angarita in second place with a time of 2:08.05. Alina placed second in the 50-Yard Freestyle with a time of 27.67. Angelina placed first in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:17.15, Katie placed second with a time of 1:19.19, and freshman Lily Micale placed third with a time of 1:21.06.

For the 1-meter diving, seventh-grader Russell Clune placed first with a score of 166.00 followed by fellow seventh-grader Leo Connors in second with a score of 105.95.

 “The energy, camaraderie, and dedication displayed in this final stretch of the season show just how much this team has grown,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “As they head into the championship meets, the Hornets will carry the lessons of hard-fought races, personal triumphs, and the unwavering support of their teammates.”
