The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team successfully defended both the Boys’ and Girls’ titles at the Connecticut Independent School Athletic Conference (CISAC) Championships during which Hamden Hall hosted Westover School, Williams School, MacDuffie School, and Marianapolis School at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium.
For the Boys’ Team, senior Eric Huang, junior Heath Schwartz, and sophomores Paxon Campbell and Jehan Mody placed first in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:56.10 40. Freshman Gabrial Andrews placed first in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:05.26 followed by senior Anthony Ferneini in second with a time of 2:09.26. Junior Tyler Tagliarini placed first in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 57.33 and the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:51.00.
For the Girls’ Team, junior Julia Scalmani and freshmen Lily Micale, Angelina Nicotra, and Katie Popkhadze placed first in the 400-Medley Relay with a time of 4:33.99 40. Julia placed first in the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:11.82 followed by Lily in second with a time of 1:16.95. Sophomore Alessandra Sticca placed first in the 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:17.72 and second in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:07.53.
For the 1 meter diving, seventh-grader Russell Clune placed first with a score of 174.15 followed by seventh-grader Leo Connors in second with a score of 123.30. Eighth-grader Willow Parke placed first with a score of 151.55 with eighth-grader Ava Rehm placed second with a score of 147.95.
“With dominant performances across the board, Hamden Hall secured first place in both divisions, setting the stage for an exciting run at the upcoming FAA Championships where they will look to continue to show off their competitive spirit,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “I am really proud of the way the team performed. This is exactly the kind of momentum we want going into the final stretch of the season.”
The Boys’ Team scored 446 points against the Williams School who scored 322 points. The Girls’ Team scored 457 points against the Williams School who scored 287 points.
The team returns to the pool for the Fairchester Athletic Association Tournament with Diving taking place on Friday, February 21, at Brunswick School at 5 p.m. Swimming will begin on Saturday, February 22, at Hopkins School at 10 a.m.
