William H. Buell, Class of 1929, was a veteran of World War II.
Landing on Utah Beach with the 4th Infantry Division on D-Day, he participated in the Battle of Mortain, the Liberation of Paris, the Battle of Hurtgen Forest, and the Battle of the Bulge.
In 2004, Bill and his wife were invited to Paris to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Liberation of that city. There he was honored by President Jacques Chirac.
Bill co-founded PolyChem Corporation and lived in Woodbridge and New Haven with his wife, Helen, his son, William H. Buell III, stepchildren Winifred Keon and John Walsh, and foster son, Sammy Rivera. They moved to Clearwater, Fla., in 1989 and resided there until his passing on Nov. 30, 2013.
