New Year Victory for Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving
The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team hosted Masters School and Greenwich Country Day School for a dual meet at the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium on Saturday, January 11.
For the Boys’ Team, seniors Eric Huang, Anthony Ferneini, junior Tyler Tagliarini, and sophomore Paxon Campbell placed first in the 200-Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:46.74. Anthony also placed first in both the 100-Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:00.01 and the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:55.84. Eighth-grader Blake Zeitlin placed third in the 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:13.10. The Boys’ won against Masters with a score of 121-49 and Greenwich Country Day School with a score of 100-72.
For the Girls’ Team, junior Julia Scalmani, freshmen Angelina Nicotra and Josephine Nicotra, and eighth-grader Alina Zhu placed second in the 200-Yard Free Relay with a time of 1:53.62. Sophomore Alessandra Sticca placed third in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:08.16 and freshman Lily Micale placed fourth in the 500-Yard Free with a time of 7:15.08. The Girls’ won against Masters School with a score of 85-83.
For 1 Meter Diving, seventh-grader Russell Clune placed first with a score of 174.55 and seventh-grader Leo Connors placed second with a score of 109.35. Junior Zoe Perrine placed second with a score of 167.85 and sixth-grader Willow Parke placed third with a score of 118.70.
“What an incredible start to the new year for our team,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “The meet showcased not only our competitive spirit, but also the hard work and growth that’s been happening throughout the season.”
The team returns to the pool for an away meet against Canterbury School on Saturday, January 18, at 2:30 p.m.
