The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team traveled for an afternoon game against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Hopkins School on Tuesday, April 15, winning 9-2.
Junior and starting pitcher Amato Civitello took the mound for the Hornets, striking out four players with no earned runs or hits over four innings. Sophomore AJ Park came in as relief pitcher, only allowing three hits and two earned runs. Junior Eric Jagielow closed out the game, striking out one player.
At the plate, Amato went for a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run in the first inning, three runs, and one double. Sophomore Jey Scanlon went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base as junior Billy Cole went 2-for-3 with one run and two stolen bases. Senior Carlos Reyes had one hit and one RBI, junior Nic Scillia had one RBI, and freshman Grayden Greenberg had one hit and one RBI.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team record is now 7-1 overall and 7-0 in league play.
The team returns to the field for a rematch against Hopkins at the University of New Haven on Thursday, April 17, at 4:30 p.m.
