Traveling the Globe with Class of 2018 Alumna

Where in the world is Class of 2018 alumna Elyza Lebel? She has been working for the past three months on K’gari Island, formerly known as Fraser Island in Queensland, Australia. K’gari Island is a world heritage site and the largest sand island in the world.

“Before island life, I was living in Canberra, working at an animal sanctuary in wildlife rescue with orphaned joeys for three months,” said Elyza.

Elyza graduated from Northeastern University in 2022 with a degree in Supply Chain Management. Over the last two summers, she had been working at an LGBTQ camp for teenagers in Massachusetts. When not in the United States, Elyza has been traveling full time. She spent all of last year in Central America; traveling to Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic. She is currently working as a barista and in the gift shop at Kingfisher Bay Hotel on K’gari Island before heading off on her next adventure.

Where is Eliza heading next?

"I’ll be going through Asia this summer and meeting up with my mom in Japan. Then, I’ll return to the U.S. while I wait for my second work visa for Australia to be approved," she said.

Elyza said her plan is to work in Australia for at least three more years.
