Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Shine at FAA Championship

The Co-ed Varsity Swimming and Diving Team competed in the Fairchester Athletic Association League Championship on February 21-22 with the Boys’ Team finishing in third place.

For the Boys’ Team, junior Tyler Tagliarini broke two school records as he placed first in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 48.29 and in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 53.33. Freshman Gabrial Andrews placed first in the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:57.92. Senior Anthony Ferneini placed second in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:01.14.

For the Girls’ Team, freshman Jospehine Nicotra delivered an impressive time of 6:17.61 in the 500-Yard Freestyle as freshman Angelina Nicotra finished at a personal best in the 100-Yard Freestyle with a time of 1:01.31. Sophomore Alessandra Sticca delivered a top 10 finish in the 100-Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:06.86 and seventh-grader Arianna Angarita did well in the 100-Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:27.58.

For the 1 meter diving, seventh-grader Russell Clune placed second with a score of 279.05.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the team’s growth, resilience, and commitment to improvement,” said Coach Jen Lyman. “To see so many swimmers achieve lifetime bests, break school records, and place at the top of such a competitive championship is a huge accomplishment.”

The team now awaits for the New England Division III Championships on Saturday, March 8, at Wheaton College, at 7:30 a.m.
