Gregory Sawyer, Class of 1989 Alumnus and Former Faculty

Gregory "Greg" Sawyer, Class of 1989, of Hamden, Conn., died of sudden heart failure at home on January 21. He was 53. He is survived by his father, Willits Herbert Sawyer III, his brother Edward Case Sawyer II, and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother, Margaret Jane Berthold.  

Greg taught history and lower school physical education at Hamden Hall from 2000 to 2013. As an experienced wilderness explorer, Greg also led our Outdoor Adventure program for a decade. He was a member of the Explorers' Club of New York and Outward Bound International, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps PLC program. 

The Hamden Hall community extends sincere condolences to the entire Sawyer family. 
 
There will be a funeral service at Trinity on the Green, 230 Temple Street, New Haven, Connecticut, on Saturday, May 3, at 4 p.m. Click here to read full obituary.
