I shall always remember one of Ernie's many acts of kindness when he drove me in "NIMBY" (his jeep) from New Haven to Winchester, Mass., where I would spend the Christmas holidays at the home of my college sweetheart and future wife.
I had been briefly visiting the Taylors when we learned that Ernie would be driving to Maine and wouldn't mind dropping me off in Winchester for a most wonderful 1952 Christmas!
