Students in all three divisions study the art and science of theater with our professionals and then step on stage to experience the lights, the audience, the costumes, and the magic of creativity.
Our high school theater program produces three major productions: a play in the fall, a musical in the early spring and our annual MayFest - a school year-ending festival that showcases our students’ talents. Whether you’re interested in behind-the-scenes work as a stage manager or technician or you’re interested in acting, designing sets, or writing the next blockbuster, we’ve got an open casting call and an industry professional to mentor your creative process.
Performance techniques, choreography, and collaboration are just some of the elements in our Middle School theater curriculum. Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in two major productions each year: a musical in the fall and a play in the spring.
Getting our elementary-aged students on the stage and feeling comfortable is a mainstay at Hamden Hall. Our program develops life skills through theater games and other creative activities. Students collaborate with our faculty on group performances that are often cross curricular, student-driven, and performed in front of live audiences. Our longstanding Sixth Grade musical is a culmination of the Lower School theater program.
