Hamden Hall Country Day School
Educating Students in PreSchool Through Grade 12
A Day in the Life Under the Pines
Hamden Hall Country Day School offers a dynamic private school setting that promotes educational excellence through high academic standards, small class sizes, and exceptional teaching. Our nurturing and inclusive community caters to student needs and delivers high-quality instruction through a cross-curricular learning environment.

Inside the Classroom: What’s Happening in Kindergarten
Kindergarten is a foundational milestone, and our curriculum is designed to meet each student at their unique level. We celebrate learning through purposeful play that builds upon natural curiosity and enhance students' instinct to question, discover, and participate in the world.

Each day brings academic programs of reading, phonics, writing, math, and social studies with rotating cross-curricular specials of physical education, art, music, and foreign language for a rich learning experience. Hands-on projects, outdoor play, circle time, and rest time are integrated throughout the day to support the balance of creative play and essential learning.

Creating a warm and nurturing environment is integral to a successful and engaging year of learning for all. It is our intention to help foster positive personal growth and encourage the development of social-emotional needs, critical thinking, and communications skills.
Connecting the standard curriculum with interactive activities such as free choice creates cross-curricular instruction that gives students the opportunity to both learn and play.
A sense of belonging, community, and building lifelong connections begins in our Buddy Program as Kindergarteners are paired with
fifth-grade students for a year of bonding activities.
Twice a week, students participate in Mandarin classes that bring together a fully immersive language program with an engaging and blended learning experience.
Throughout the year, students participate in musical performances, our Lifers' Shirting Ceremony, and the Valentine's Day Bake Sale as meaningful school traditions that instill a sense of pride. These experiences also encourage a sense of connection with our community and cultivate familiarity with public speaking.
Group learning is an integral part of the daily schedule. Our responsive classroom approach allows students to actively participate and ensures social and academic success.
Art projects promote creativity and expose students to a variety of techniques and materials resulting in a visual and sensory experience that benefits their academic journey.
