Fund a Future

Hamden Hall Country Day School has a storied legacy as a nurturing and inclusive community with a dynamic learning environment. From our earliest days as the nation’s fourth country day school, Hamden Hall provided educational opportunities to a diverse student body to ensure academic excellence and to better provide what we now call, The Hamden Hall Experience. So many of our alumni have regaled us with their personal stories of scholarship and thus opportunity. For Carol Nutile Burke, of the Class of 1947, it was a scholarship award that allowed her and her cousins, Reginald 1939 and Fred Jackson 1940, to attend Hamden Hall. “Going to Hamden Hall changed our lives,” said Carol. “We met new people in a world we would have never known, and it inspired us to do something with our lives: to have ambition.” Now decades later, Hamden Hall continues to provide financial aid in the form of scholarship to talented and deserving students. In fact, our school flourishes because we are able to attract more distinguished and motivated applicants. It is important for Hamden Hall to find angels in the Greater New Haven community and beyond who share our vision of providing educational opportunity in order to transform the lives of the most deserving students.

  • Athletic Scholarships

Hamden Hall enjoys a reputation as one of the most competitive and successful small prep schools in New England, having won a significant number of league titles as well as multiple New England Championships. Each year, about 10 percent of our senior class goes on to play sports in college at the Division I, II, and III levels. Moreover, we have several outstanding professional athletes among our prestigious alumni. Our 30-acre Skiff Street Athletic Complex lends itself to competitive distinction with its multiple fields - including our multi-sport synthetic turf field - tennis courts, and the 65,000-square-foot Beckerman Athletic Center. Known as the BAC, the premier facility boasts a pool, three college-length basketball courts, an elevated jogging track, fitness center, multipurpose aerobics room, locker rooms, student lounge, and study center. Being able to offer talented athletes tuition support is an invaluable tool for Hamden Hall.
  • Performing Arts Scholarships

The visual and performing arts are integral components of a Hamden Hall education as we weave our students’ artistic visions and talents into daily campus life. Hamden Hall has an awardwinning choral and instrumental program that consistently garners state and national recognition, including record-breaking numbers for the past four years of the number of students selected to the prestigious Connecticut Music Educators Southern Regional Honor Choir and Orchestra. Our theatre program is vibrant with annual musicals, student- and faculty-authored plays, and other dynamic undertakings in our Taylor Performing Arts Center. Classes in theatre education and performance begin in our Lower School and continue through Middle and Upper School and often include offcampus shows and workshop opportunities. Our students also have the opportunity to attend regional and national theatre festivals. Whether it’s a budding musician or an actor in the making, financial aid via scholarship would secure the student a place in our community.
  • Visual Arts Scholarships

Our visual arts programs commence in the Mary McCune Edwards Lower School Art Cottage and include showcases for student work in our Lower School Art Studio and Gallery. Older students are able to enhance their artistic abilities in new media arts, mural painting, and other novel genres and individual studio space is provided for students who wish to pursue advanced study, portfolio, or AP Studio Art. Faculty members are exhibiting artists with connections within the Greater New Haven art community. Moreover, our Moira Fitzsimmons Arons Art Gallery provides an additional educational experience for our entire Hamden Hall community as it allows us to regularly showcase regional and national artists. Scholarship monies would allow us to stimulate the creative processes and further hone students’ respective crafts.
