The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team hosted Rye Country Day School for an afternoon game on Tuesday, May 7, winning 5-4.
Junior Logan Charboneau took the mound as starting pitcher for the Hornets, striking out four players. It was a back-and-forth match up before sophomore Billy Cole closed out the game as relief pitcher, allowing no runs and striking out one player.
At the plate, senior Brady Chernovetz went 2-for-3 and scored two runs for the Hornets as fellow senior Nick Criscuolo went 1-for-2 with an RBI and stolen base. Senior Gavin Lyons had two RBIs and sophomore Amato Civitello had three hits and earned a walk.
Following the win, the team hosted Senior Night celebrations with pizza for its six players including Brady, Nick, Gavin, Will McGarry, Ryan Lynch, and Sam Streeter.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team record is now 21-2 overall and 13-0 in the FAA League.
The team returns to the field for a game against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Hopkins on Thursday, May 9, at 4:30 p.m.
