Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team Dedicates Game to Morgan’s Message

The Girls’ Varsity Lacrosse Team welcomed Ethel Walker School for a home match at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Wednesday, April 17, winning 11-10.

It was a special game for the team as they dedicated it to the life and legacy of Morgan Rogers. Morgan was a former Duke University Lacrosse student-athlete who passed away tragically in July 2019 after battling mental health struggles.

Taking the field, eighth-grader Kaja Millhouse led with four goals as senior Lily Schoonmaker scored four goals and two assists. Freshmen Alex Tombaugh and Lily Maher scored one goal each. Eighth-grader Scottie Beck got the game win with five saves in the net.

“We are so proud of our team for stepping up and taking a stand to end the stigma surrounding mental health,” said Coach Emily Anderson. “They were committed to honoring Morgan and all that Morgan’s Message stands for. They played their hearts out for this amazing cause.”

The team record is now 5-2 for the overall season. The Hornets return to the field on Saturday, April 20, for a game against King School at noon.
