Strong Outing for Boys’ Varsity Baseball

The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team took on Brunswick School during an afternoon game at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Thursday, April 25, winning 5-2.

Senior Gavin Lyons took the mound for the Hornets, striking out seven players and walking none over six innings. Sophomore Amato Civitello closed out the game as relief pitcher.

At the plate, junior Logan Charboneu hit a homerun in the fourth inning, allowing two runs to score as senior Brady Chernovetz hit a solo home run to extend the game to a 5-1 lead. Sophomore Billy Cole singled in the sixth inning.

Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team really played its best, and said he is proud of their effort in a high-stakes game.

The team returns to the field for an away game against Austin Prep School on Saturday, April 27, at noon.
