Boys’ Varsity Baseball Off to NEPSAC Championship Finals
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team will now compete in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Tournament Championship game following its 12-2, five-inning win against Marianapolis School on Wednesday, May 22.
With home field advantage at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex, senior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons took the mound, striking out three players in the first two innings. Sophomore Nic Scillia closed out the game for the final three innings, striking out three players and allowing no runs to score.
The Hornets saw success at the plate as senior Ryan Lynch was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and fellow senior Brady Chernovetz 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a stolen base. Both senior Will McGarry and junior Logan Charboneau had two RBIs respectively.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted the team has now advanced to the NEPSAC Championships for a third consecutive year.
The team returns to the field at the University of Hartford for the NEPSAC Tournament Championship game against Winchendon School on Friday, May 24, at 4 p.m.
