The Boys’ Varsity Basketball Team welcomed Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Hopkins School for a home game on Monday, January 29, winning 69-65 in overtime.
Taking the court at the Beckerman Athletic Center, it was a back-and-forth battle between the Hornets and the Hilltoppers. Senior Alex Prezioso led with 23 points as fellow seniors Ethan Bessoni and Ryan Stratton added a combined 33 points to the scoreboard. Other points scored included senior Mason Gorham and freshmen Caleb Chapman and Christian Cournoo.
“This was a much-needed win and going to get us rolling into the second half of the season with great momentum,” said Alex. “We were extremely tough and relentless all game, never shying away from the moment.”
Coach Sean Doherty noted that having such a positive atmosphere with the student section, alumni, and administrators made such a difference.
The team returns to the Beckerman Athletic Center for a match up against St. Luke’s School on Wednesday, January 31, at 4:30 p.m.
