The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team welcomed Canterbury School for a home game at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Monday, May 6, winning 12-4.
Sophomore and starting pitcher Nic Scillia led off for the Hornets, striking out five and walking none over five innings. Senior Ryan Lynch closed out the game as the relief pitcher with zero hits and runs allowed.
At the plate, senior Brady Chernovetz was 3-for-3 with a home run to left field in the third inning, a double in the fifth inning, and a single in the sixth inning. Junior Logan Charboneau walked in the sixth inning as seniors Nick Criscuolo, Will McGarry, and sophomore Billy Cole all singled, allowing runs to score. Junior Asher Wasserman hit into a fielder's choice resulting in an error for Canterbury, allowing the final run to score and securing the game win.
The team also won its previous game against Suffield Academy with a score of 10-2 on Saturday, May 3.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that the team record has improved to 20-2 overall and 12-0 in the FAA League.
The team takes on Rye Country Day School in a home game at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex on Tuesday, May 7, at 4:30 p.m.
