The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team captured the Fairchester Athletic Association League Championship title following its 4-3 win over Brunswick School on Friday, May 16. The team previously won the title back in 2022.
Taking the field at the Skiff Street Athletic Complex, senior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons took the mound, striking out five players over seven innings. At the plate, he was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
It was a back-and-forth effort between the Hornets and Bruins as senior Brady Chernovetz hit a home run in the fifth inning to extend the lead. Junior Logan Charboneau had an RBI and sophomore Amato Civitello had one run and one hit.
“What an incredible performance by the team on the field,” commented Coach Brad Chernovetz. “It was a close game, but we pulled out a great win. We all look forward to the next set of games.”
The team returns to the field for the quarterfinal game of the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Tournament against King School on Monday, May 20, at 4:30 p.m.
