Boys’ Varsity Baseball Captures NEPSAC Championship Title
The Boys’ Varsity Baseball Team won the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Tournament Championship following its 11-4 game win against Winchendon School on Friday, May 24.
Taking the field at the University of Hartford, the Hornets were ready to play. Senior and starting pitcher Gavin Lyons took the mound, striking out six players through six innings. Senior Ryan Lynch closed out the game, striking out one player and allowing no earned runs.
At the plate, sophomore Billy Cole was 3-for-3 with two runs and a stolen base while senior Nick Criscuolo scored three runs. Junior Asher Wasserman landed a three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning to give the Hornets a 7-2 lead. Junior Logan Charboneau had one RBI, and sophomore Amato Civitello had one hit and one run.
Coach Brad Chernovetz noted that this win marks the teams third consecutive NEPSAC Tournament title and the second title win against Winchendon. The final team record for the season is 27-2.
