2012 Alumna Understands the Key to Greater Energy Efficiency

As an energy efficiency consultant, Class of 2012 alumna Elizabeth Stagg understands the industry in terms of helping customers with optimal energy usage and reducing their environmental impact. She now serves as the Senior Program Manager at Adobe Energy Management.

In her position, Elizabeth oversees a residential decarbonization program and works with single family homes. She said she is excited to continue growing her career in the energy efficiency sector.

Prior to Adobe Energy Management, she served as both a project manager and program manager for commercial new construction energy efficiency projects at Eversource. Her responsibilities included assisting the commercial and industrial customers who are building new buildings or undergoing major renovations. In order to help make their building design more energy efficient, she coordinates with energy molders and building drawing and equipment specifications. With her team, Elizabeth helps to ensure that the program is serving the customers well and constantly evaluates and implements new ideas for the incentives and technical assistance offerings.

“I was very lucky to land in the energy efficiency industry right out of college,” said Elizabeth. “My first job was for CMC Energy Services where I performed residential home energy audits and made recommendations to homeowners on how to make their homes more efficient, increase their quality of life, and lower their utility bills.”

Reflecting on her career and keen interest in the environment and sustainability practices, Elizabeth thanked Hamden Hall and, more specifically, current Upper School science teacher Sarrah Williams Gavin for being the catalyst.

“The AP Environmental Science class I took my junior year with Mrs. Gavin was the first time where I learned about how greenhouse gasses work, how different pollutants impact our air and water, and the far-reaching effects that humans have on our planet,” said Elizabeth. “I was shocked by just how much I learned in an elective class and how much I would have missed out on had I continued in AP Bio or Chem or Physics. I knew then that I wanted to study environmental science and bring my new knowledge to as many others as I could.”

Elizabeth graduated from Brown University in 2016 with a degree in environmental studies and a focus in science communication. She continued her education at Yale University where she earned her MBA and Master of Environmental Management degree in 2022. She currently lives in New Haven.

Aside from work, Elizabeth enjoys traveling and recently spent a weekend in Mallorca followed by a trip to Bilbao, Spain, to visit her partner, who was there for a work conference. She is currently completing a re-read of one of her favorite novels, The Stormlight Archive, by Brandon Sanderson and said she can’t wait until the next installment. Additionally, family is important to Elizabeth as she loves to hang out with her niece and nephew. She noted that on every Monday during the school year, she and her sister rotate staying home and babysitting. Her family members are big crossworders and Zoom every Sunday to do the New York Times Sunday puzzle together.
