William George "Bill" Polinsky, Class of 1958

Bill Polinsky, Hamden Hall Class of 1958, of Harwinton, died peacefully on July 16, after a quick decline with dementia. He leaves behind his four children: Eric, Mark, Bill, and Sarah, and his six grandchildren, two of which attended Hamden Hall. Bill was  predeceased by his wife of almost 60 years, his high school sweetheart, Doris Anne Catania Polinsky, also the Class of 1958.

Bill had retired from his longtime post at M. Schiavone and Sons - a scrap recycling business - where he rose to the post of vice president of marketing.

At Hamden Hall, Bill was an outstanding three-sport athlete and was cited as being the school's best athlete. As such, Bill was inducted into the Hamden Hall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2018. He was also recognized in 2013 with an Alumni Achievement Award alongside five other distinguished alumni.

Bill continued his liberal arts education at Yale and played sports for the Elis. In his junior year, he was selected all league in the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League and was also chosen MVP by his teammates. Senior year at Yale, Bill played back-up guard on the basketball team. After Yale, Bill sought one of his dreams—professional baseball—and enjoyed a brief stint with the Chicago Cubs.
