The Boys’ Varsity Water Polo Team competed against Fairchester Athletic Association League rival Deerfield Academy in an away meet on Friday, October 11, winning 17-3.
Senior and captain Anthony Ferneini had five goals, one assist, four steals, and two shot blocks as junior Heath Schwarz had four goals, two assists, and six steals. Freshman John Countryman had three goals, one assist, and one steal as junior Jack Cucchiarelli had two goals, two assists, and three steals. Seventh-grader Leo Connors had his first assist of the season. Senior and captain Eric Huang had seven saves in the net to catch the game victory.
“As we move toward the postseason, this team is capitalizing on its ability to effectively work together in highly pressurized matches and we hope to continue our success,” said Coach Martha Phelan.
The team returns home to the Beckerman Athletic Center Natatorium for a doubleheader match on Homecoming weekend this Saturday, October 19. The first match is at noon against Brunswick School and the second match against the Hydras Water Polo Club at 1:30 p.m.
